Strong Leadership

Felicia Smith

Felicia Smith is the owner and operator of Dr. Smith's Eye Care. She founded Dr. Smith's Eye Care with the help of her husband, Dr. Daniel Smith. Felicia Smith, a Chicago native, earned a bachelor's degree in Psychology at Xavier University in New Orleans. This is also where she met Dr. Daniel Smith. When the couple moved back to Chicago, so that Dr. Smith may pursue his degree in optometry, they both knew that a private practice was something they were interested in taking on. They decided to open the practice in Louisiana due to the lack of African American presence in optometry practices here. With two active children on her heels, Felicia Smith worked endlessly, trying to grow and improve on Dr. Smith's Eye Care. Now, we are a multi-location practice with a large focus on eye and overall health. She also takes pride in working with young individuals and providing professional opportunities that many would not get the chance to experience otherwise. This office would not be the same without Felicia Smith and her insight and dedication.

The Future of Dr. Smith's Eye Care

Kennedy Smith

Kennedy Smith, daughter of Felicia and Dr. Daniel Smith, is an optometry student at IAUPR in Puerto Rico. She earned her bachelor's degree in Biology from the University of Louisiana in Monroe. Growing up surrounded by the office has made her passionate about improving the lives of others through eye health. Kennedy plans to follow in her father's footsteps and continue the family practice, but she also has a special interest in sports vision and pediatric eye care. At IAUPR, she is also participating in a dual language program so that she may extend our services to other underserved communities. Kennedy is set to graduate in May of 2024 and is looking forward to returning to her roots here in Louisiana where she was born and raised.
